HOW TO GET LONG LASHES - NATURALLY!

*No eyeliner, curling, false lashes or extensions*

Time for a beauty related post here on FF! One of the questions I get asked most frequently, is whether my eyelashes are real and then how I get my lashes so long. They are in fact 100% my own, but I have some - until now - close-held secrets, that has helped me get the most of the ones I've got. The eyes have it all they say, so we might as well have some fun with it and care for them in the best way, and I'm going to let you in on how I like to do it!

-

NATURAL GROWTH
The first step is prepping, and this step is not one to skip. Years ago, a close friend told me, that she put sesame oil on her lashes each night to naturally stimulate eyelash growth. I gave it a go, and applied it after removing all make-up to my eyes before bed with a Q-tip as I would apply eyeliner. For about a month I would do it every day, and the following month every second day. Having done it for years now, I just remove my eye make-up with it, but I've seen such a difference after doing this. Best thing is that you can get it at the supermarket! No need for expensive eye-lash serums.

THE POWER OF 3
Next step, and this is something that will no matter your length of lashes help you make the absolute most of what you have: the power of using 3 mascaras. It is such a game changer! Instead of choosing a mascara that advertises that they do-it-all (which in my experience, they never really do), get the ones that are best at what they do, one for length + one for volume, voìla! Apply a "base" mascara - I use MAC's Extended Play mascara, which alone will not do anything exciting whatsoever to your lashes, but it's fantastic if you like me just use it as a prime mascara. Leave it for 15-20 seconds (they're not aloud to go dry!) and then add a lengthening mascara. The Rimmel Lash Accelerator is great, as it has fibres, that will help extending your lashes - apply all-over and blink through the wand. Leave your lashes for another 15-20 seconds and finish off zig-zagging through your lashes with Benefit's they're Real before they go dry. Looks pretty good now, right Bambi!?

IF YOU ONLY BUY 1 MASCARA
Get Benefit's they're Real mascara. It really does what it promises, but don't just add one coat and leave it. You'll get the most of it, if you follow the procedure from above, applying it once, wait about 15-20 seconds and then work the lashes up for more volume and length before the first coat dries.

I HOPE THIS POST WAS HELPFUL, AND THAT YOU'RE ALL HAVING AN AMAZING WEEKEND!

  8. Really happy you made sure to mention they shouldn't go dry. A lot of girls use more layers of different mascaras but let them dry - which completely ruins them. I might try the more-mascara trick. I use olive oil to remove eye makeup, feel it sort of has the same effect as sesame oil :) Miss you by the way!

  22. I haven't heard about sesame oil before. I've tried using olive oil for a very short period of time but my lashes are still short and have no curl! I'm hoping the new Lancome Grandiose mascara would be a better bet than waterproof mascara.

  24. Oil really does work wonders on eyelashes; people always ask me what mascara I'm wearing! (I don't wear any) Sesame and Castor oil are great, but I only have olive. Pretty pictures and what gorgeous eyes you have! Haha

  25. Really helpful, thanks for the tips :) ! Been wondering if sesame oil would make a difference since I've also heard almond or coconut oil helps. Thank you!

  26. Goodness if your post didn't give me the giggles! Not because it was funny but because I have been using the " 3 mascaras" trick for years and, as I am 54, when I say "for years" I mean YEARS! I have always been asked if my lashes were real or how I got them to look so long and full. Like you, I never found that those all-in-one products perform as advertised. I use one mascara as a lengthening base coat, another for volume and a third to separate and get rid of any clumps. Then, one last pass with the lengthening mascara and I'm good for go. Doesn't really take any extra time at all. I hadn't heard of using sesame oil though. I've been using argan oil which also seems to stimulate growth. I use it to remove my eye makeup as well. But sesame oil is likely less expensive so I shall certainly give it a try! Thanks for the giggle by the way! Laughter is the best and cheapest beauty product of all!

    1. Hi Kim, Would you mind filling me in a little about the oil to remove eye make up? Do you simply put some on a pad and rub it over the eye lid and lashes? Do you not find the oil makes your eyes puffy next day?

  30. I think most oils do the trick. I've been removing my eye make up with oil - rose hip or jojoba, for about a year now & not only does it make your eye make up melt off without having to rub & scrub, but it nourishes your eyelashes & make them grow into beautiful lush lashes.
