HOME NIGHT
It's Sundaaay!! Perhaps you are like me, and have no rush to run out tonight. It is still weekend for a little bit yet, and as it often happens to me on this last night, I'll be spending it in company with popcorn, a good movie and my wonderful flatmate. I thought, as I simply haven't been much out this week, that I would give you my tips for my perfect night in. We'll cover everything from what to watch, and which oil not to cook popcorn in!
∴
TOP 10 BLOCKBUSTERS
Now, I'm an avid romantic (as well as being a MASSIVE Star Wars fan). I am completely down with Carson's cover album and Maggie Smiths' sharp 'n' witty comments in Downton Abbey, and I will melt into the couch like hot fudge watching Mr. Darcy come walking through the field in Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. If you're in the mood for a series, and you like me are waiting in anticipation until Downton reopens its doors next Autumn, Mr Selfridge is a good series of same historical character! Backed up with some great acting and featuring some charming English and American accents is definitely worth a watch!
Also, I love comedies, sci-fi's and heartfelt dramas, and have made a little mix of everything below, where you can hopefully find one you haven't seen yet!

THE BIRDCAGE
My flatmate saved me with this movie once, when I was having really bad cramps (we're talking Richter-scale measurable) that thanks to Robin Williams and Nathan Lane playing a hilarious gay couple having to act straight, as their son is engaged to the senator's daughter, got replaced with laughing cramps.
LEAP YEAR
One of my favourite Rom-Coms! I reckon I see this a good ol' 4 times per year - I swoon for this Irish and American dynamic played by Amy McAdams and Matthew Goode.
LIFE OF PI
Now, to be fair, I haven't seen this one on a home-screen, but I did see it 3 times when it was in the cinema. More than anything, I feed of movies that are strong visually, and this one is just too beautiful to skip.
THE UNTOUCHABLES
Fantastic movie. Fantastic!
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
Now, you read that I was a Star Wars fan, so let's just say that means that my taste in sci-fi's is pretty awesome. So you'll love this! Guaranteed!! And it's got some savvy 80's tracks going on there that'll have you rocking in best retro-futuristic style, wooh!

THE PROPOSAL
Another rom-com that will have you laughing. Sandra Bullock is a favourite of mine, and I love her fierce and fudge in this strong female lead, where you will see her go down on one knee in a pencil skirt and stilettos. Other favourites with her are Two Weeks Notice and The Blind Side. You go, Sandra!
THE KING'S SPEECH
Fantastic acting, making me a bit wiser on the history of England. Now if King George VI can speak for the country,
KING KONG
Another king! More furry this time and now, we always like a good monkey lead! Turn the light off for this one and make sure the popcorn are XXL!
GANDHI
I love this movie, and just saw it again after a long time last weekend. His message of peace, love, kindness and non-violence is as relevant as ever. If any movie can be a must-see, this is it.
BEDTIME STORIES
I'm a big child, I don't deny it. In fact, this was just one of the many family movies I could have chosen to feature. Being in my 20's, I'll have to acknowledge, that I'll never grow out of it and when Disney says jump, I jump. Highlights of the movie is Adam Sandler gets his tongue stuck by a bee, making him talk mumbo-jumbo and at one point it does rain with gum-balls. What's not to love?

LET IT POP
Now, a very important ingredient not to skip for the perfect night in, is face down of course the popcorn! I really don't mean to brag, but I'd consider myself an expert on this topic given that they are a large part of my daily diet. I'm down with this veggie, and I know exactly how to make them pop. 1tbsp of oil for 50g of popcorn should do the trick - make sure that the oil is hot when you put them in the pot (with a lid, s'il vous plaƮt!!!), and give it a quick shake so all the corn are covered in oil.
From experience, let me tell you: avoid olive oil for all costs! By the time your popcorn is ready, you'll have missed your 8 hours of beauty sleep, and they'll come out as coal. Not healthy for you. Instead, use sunflower oil or rapeseed oil.

VARIATIONS
I always go for the classic salted popcorn, but for there are some fun variations if you're in for something different! Try drizzling grated parmesan over the popcorn or try this recipe for salted caramel popcorn, if you have a sweet tooth.
