KEEPSAKE KIMONO
Having lived in "another country" (insert: England) for over two years now, the topic of home has frequently been a topic on my mind. Let's be honest here, home is the place where the risk of finding something once edible now undefinable always hangs over your head. But to draw up a more rough sketch in trying to define "home", to me it's better experienced accompanied by "holiday". I recently had the most ultimate experience of what these two could do together. Thanks to Hotel Café Royal, Regent Street became my home for some days, and although only a stone throw from where my daily shenanigans usually take place, it left me with a complete new insight of the adventures that are to be had in the city of London.
This will continue as a little feature series, as unleashing the complete experience to you at once would leave you daunted. So for this first tribute, Hotel Café Royal will have to be on top of the list. The New York Times delivered each morning, the best fruit salad and an iced coffee to go when I was running out the door insisting that I wouldn't have the time to sit down (they insisted I would and they were so right) and the most fabulous spa Akasha for a relaxing pool-dip followed by relaxing treatments, left me the happiest gal in London.
You can't really do London without doing afternoon tea, and Amy (FF superstar) and I had our fair share of clotted cream and Earl Grey's. One not to miss is the impeccable Sketch London, with interior that will blow your mind. Whatever you imagined, it's better. A million times even. Let's just say that the loos have bird-singing and a roof that makes you feel like you're in a 90's Nintendo console-game. Prepare to be amazed, and whatever you do, don't skip this experience.
