CATCHING UP WITH THE WORLD

Framboise Fashion HM Fringe Jacket Embankement Bridge

If there is something living in London has taught me, it's the fact that if you want something hard enough, you can do anything. That, and the fact that in the big city, the clock never stops. If you put in the hours to the extent when 8 becomes 12, becomes 18 becomes 36 before you rest, it gets to the point where the expectations you are faced with from others and worst of all yourself go beyond human capability. As much as I love being passionate and immersed in my work, my facebook and be attentive to all parts of my life at once, it's occurred to me, that unless I let go just a bit of those expectations towards myself and my feeling of obligation towards people on the other end, it would be a slippery slope to breaking down which truthfully is just not something there's time for right now.

This brings me to touching of the subject of mindfulness, which until recently when a close friend sat me down was just something I'd seen on pastel coloured book covers. In todays world, fashion as well as any other industry, we are constantly moving on to the next thing, not allowing us to take in the moments and truly experience them. We pack up the circus as soon as the show is done, instead of enjoying the effort put into it and celebrating the achievement of success. It's dulled by the fact that as soon as you reach a goal, it seems like the world is continuing in the fast lane with a new, shinier, better goal than what you've just achieved.

What has evoked the rant in my case is more a product of a need for extra hands in the business, but this feeling of being insufficient in something you're passionate about, is one I've met in other situations of my life. At some point your mind and body has to come into the equation, and you need to sleep.

I LOVE YOU LONDON, BUT IF YOU COULD JUST TURN THE LIGHTS OFF FOR A DAY AND PUT ON SOME OCEAN SOUNDS, THAT'D BE INCREDIBLE

  3. Fantastic post and your thoughts/ questions and opinions are exactly like mine!! I too feel that everything you want to do, you can achieve but then again, I have achieved a lot by now, but I still feel like I haven't achieved even close to half of what I want and each time I do get a step closer to my "goal" I never celebrate it or embrace it properly, I just move on to the next task and step which I need to take in order to get that much closer to that ultimate goal. Go figure... :)

  6. That is one fine jacket!!
And I totally agree with you. This fast paced system doesn't work in the long run. I'm planning to go to bed at 8pm tonight. Gotta recharge otherwise there is no point of me next day.

  9. Agreed. Sometimes the pace of things are just a bit too fast to really be attentive at what we do.

  11. It's such a fast paced world these days, the movers and shakers live in the future. Always do what is best for yourself. :)
