THE RECAP
A very short post merely to make a Sunday presence on the blog. To someone who spends the majority of her time in front of a screen with plates of imported Scandinavian chocolate (because Scandinavia has like soo many cocoa trees), it's like a little blessing when a Sunday comes around followed by a bank holiday. The world expects absolutely nothing of me until Tuesday, but then there's that cheeky catch 22 of my job being, that I'm self-employed meaning it's so easy to feel like no day is a holiday (because "INSTAGRAM NEEDS ME PEOPLE!", right...). But no. Things may be pacing up, and as we are with it, I feel it's so important not to feel like the ultimate success is being the fastest runner. If you're the happiest runner per own definition, if you feel whole in other areas of your life than your career or your consistency on XYZ social media page, despite it not looking like a pinterest board, you're on Beyoncé* level to me.
*or Maggie Smith, I love them both equally.
Speaking of, the blogging world has it's own Beyoncé, she's called Shini, and you'll know her from Park&Cube, where you can experience so much of her awesomeness. With blogging leaving a tad of a mystery of what a person is really like, let me de-mystify this one - she is exactly as beautiful / cool / hilarious as she seems. We went to Brighton early this week to shoot a story she was doing for her site (find it here), it was such a glorious reason to tick the 'Out of office' button, to join a crazy gang of wonderful people for a roadtrip in best Dr. Dre meets Chitti Chitti Bang Bang style (y'know). Following that, Amy and I went to shoot at the Natural History Museum, which was 1. super fun and 2. super challenging due to sharing more than 80% of the shots with touring school classes. For some of the shots we had to wait for 30 or so kids to write / paint in answers on a quiz (doesn't that just bring back memories?). Wonderful day and fun shoot, which in case you missed it, went live right here!
Late week accomplishments include finally learning the real trick to poaching an egg. I know I could have left this information out, but I feel it's a milestone worth mentioning - I'm never cling filming eggs again.
HOPE YOU'RE HAVING A GREAT WEEKEND
X

Such a lovely catch up! I loved the Brighton post that Shini wrote on her blog. Was fun going along with you on Snapchat too! And that post you did in the National History Museum is absolutely stunning. x

I exactly what you mean about being self-employed and finding it hard to take some time off, but it is so important to just press the refresh button on your life (kind of a dorky analogy, yet still very true)! Love the scarf, btw :)
