MILAN DIARY

THE UPDATE

How was September for you guys? I'm extremely curious, as we need to test out Mercury's retrograde effects once and for all. Now, here's mine: failing connections, 40+ hour days, bulking deadlines, missed e-mails, a laptop soaked in hot chocolate (with whipped cream) and the most recent: accidentally boarding a wrong fast train, transporting me cities away from the airport and thereby missing my flight.. Now there were many great things about September too for sure, reuniting with close friends, Amy's impeccable birthday pavlova, Finding Dory (mjaah, still not sure) and not least getting into Sprite again.

And trust me. I am an eternal optimist. It takes a lot of spilt hot chocolate to get me down, but when you've already buried a laptop in the backyard because of a green tea incident last year, you may shed a tear tears a minor lake. And all obstacles are relative, I know, for as my go-to creative guru Elizabeth Gilbert always says about creative work, birds aren't going to drop dead from the sky if things don't go the way you planned. And as it all culminated on a deserted* station an hour south of Milan, when it occurred to me that I wouldn't make it to the airport on time, I just sat down next to my luggage, called my mum and cried my eyes out. It wasn't the missed plane in itself, but all of it together in a very short period of time - the expectations, the intensity of the events in September. And then in our world, if you count yourself and your close ones as being in good health, you can always count yourself as lucky.
*it wasn't deserted, but for the sake of dramatic storytelling..

FIY, my laptop survived, so thank you Universe. However, in the nifty process of cleaning out my keyboard, this pod broke her c key... Every single typed 'c' in September has been on a missing c key, which I've just posted photographic evidence of on Twitter right here. Missing keys and missing flights aren't the worst things that can happen, and on that note (haha, key - note - get it?) let's embark on a new month and hope this was all just because of Mercury.

  9. Glad to hear your laptop is safe. I remember when I dropped mine (in its protective sleeve) and had a minor heart attack.
Milan looks beautiful! I hope to visit one day soon :)
