VOLUNTARILY STRANDED

ISLAND ALLURE

Holiday update: currently caught in the midst of a food coma and embracing a part time digital detox (I know I'm technically on my laptop right now, but I swear I'm so relaxed and overfed it's ridiculous..). The usual ping-ponging of emails has been replaced with serious attention to random Pinterest boards, and those dark lines that normally hide under layers of mixed media (concealer, acrylics, oil paint) have met their nemesis: hibernation. Not being used to sleeping in complete darkness and away from sirens and London traffic, my system has had a glitch and I've been waking up in the PM every day. I won't lie, much like pizza in Naples, it's a slice of heaven.

Another slice of heaven is Mauritius, which - spoiler alert - ticks every box of divine. Different from the current holiday mode hosted in frost flirting surroundings, this one has a certain shade of tropical tranquility and you'll have to look deep into the freezer (for icecream, self-explanatory) to find anything even remotely frozen. Waking up at the Shangri-La at Le Touessrok with an East facing ocean view and colourful Missoni-looking tropical birds flying in to pledge why they deserve your complimentary laichees and mini bananas. I did have an on-going suspicion throughout the trip whether maybe, just maybe, that wish I made on the 10th easy peeler in the 5th grade had come true, and I had finally woken up as a Disney princess.

The experience was shared with my friends from Taylor Morris, who had planned an activity filled week with everything from hanging out with giant turtles to taking a go at Krav Maga and meeting artist Gael Froget. I love it when a trip manages to go beyond just the days you've traveled, but the impressions made on the journey still hit you days, weeks, months later. I'm so thrilled to finally be able to share some of them with you here, and I hope you'll enjoy the moments captured in this post.

HOPE YOU'RE ENJOYING THE HOLIDAYS
