Paul Smith Tuxedo Collection London
THE TUXEDO COLLECTION

Drop 'Sir Paul Smith' into a conversation, and you have my full attention. Never have I ever met someone so genuine within the fashion industry and so genuinely in line with their brand. Few designers manage to personalise their brand so successfully, that when you have something of theirs, you feel like it is something of theirs, and it's almost as if what comes from this fashion house is the most  natural extension to the fun-loving, kind and charismatic person Paul is.
The inspiration for this post comes from his recently launched Tuxedo Collection within the womenswear range. At the launch at the Italian Embassy in London back in December, seeing it worn in black by singer Poppy Ajudha's was by every definition a captivating way of seeing it come to life, and why creating this story around it is beyond an honour.

I could go on about the erasing of lines between menswear and womenswear. Isn't that our favourite thing to casually discuss anyway? However if I can add a personal point to the topic without saying what has already been said by everyone, the process of getting a suit, is something so unique, that within the previous experiences connected to our understanding of ready-to-wear womenswear, hasn't had a match to this and I can only recommend that everyone gets to experience this once. If suits is your thing that is, but let's be real: everyone looks good in a suit. Yes, everyone. Paul himself wears one each and every day, and the superstar of his own company recently added a few styling tips on the podcast Table Manners with Jessie Ware: "I adore suits. I wear them with trainers, the right T-shirt, sometimes a jean with a suit jacket".

ON THE PERFECT SUIT

FROM THE TAILORING TO THE FINISH, THE ENTIRE PROCESS OF GETTING A SUIT RELATES TO THE ART OF DRESSING, NOT THE ACT.

  1. Eloquently written, cinematic and atmospheric photography, and your usual touch of you, Sarah, makes this another exceptional post! I have to say, suits are a personal favorite of mine and can be so flattering on females. The long shapes and bold cuts are perfect to contrast the usual flowiness of dresses. White is the perfect colour, too, because it makes the bolder lines softer and makes it appropriate for both day-time, and night-time looks. Once again, you've nailed it :)

  3. Absolutely great post, with beautiful photography. I've been thinking about buying a suit- THE suit that would (pun intended) suit me perfectly. This is such great extra motivation to finally do it :)
